Searching the Scripture

A Question of Authority

In a society very different from that of the first Christian century, wherein for us does the authority of scripture lie? Not, I believe, in its professed 'historical accuracy', and not in its claimed 'verbal inerrancy', but rather in the unique story it has to tell of God's dealings with his people Israel, culminating in the gift of his Son Jesus Christ to be the Saviour of the world.
