Minor Prophets with a Major Message: A Contemporary Introduction to Some of the Minor Prophets

Alec Gilmore

University of Sussex

This article is an exploration into the contemporary relevance of the Minor Prophets in the light of Mark Daniel Carroll R's work on Amos and the need to suggest appropriate daily devotional reading for clergy and laity, with a little assistance from a Browning poem and an Indonesian poet's response to the tsunami in 2004.

Key Words: Minor Prophets • Mark Daniel Carroll R • Poetic Reading • Cultural Context • Contemporary Prophets • Imaginative Hermeneutics
